Awards for National Engineers Week, San Diego
Call for Nominations
The National Engineers Week (NEW)-San Diego County Engineering Council (SDCEC) Planning Committee is seeking nominations for SDCEC awards:
- Outstanding Engineer Award
- Outstanding Engineering Educator Award
- Outstanding Engineering Project Award
- Dr. Thomas Avolt Kanneman Outstanding Service Award
- SDCEC/Co-sponsored Outstanding Engineering Project Awards
awards (e.g. Outstanding IEEE Project Award)
The awards are to be presented at the National Engineers Week Banquet on February 25, 2011, 6pm-9:30pm at the Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice on the University of San Diego Campus.
These awards are intended to recognize recent contributions to engineering within San Diego County, and are not intended for life-time contributions but for contributions typically within the past three to five (maximum) years. Prior contributions (over five years) are appropriate for the general background but not the primary basis for the current year award.
Award criteria (and nomination information formats which follow) are described below.
Deadline for all nominations:
The nomination priority deadline for SDCEC awards is December 31, 2011, and for SDCEC/Co-sponsored awards is January 9, 2012. Nominations are closed after these dates. Nominations are reviewed and initially selected by the NEW SD Awards Committee with award recommendations submitted to the full NEW SD Planning Committee for adoption. Nominations must be post marked or emailed by: above indicated deadlines.
Earlier nominations are encouraged.
The National Engineers Week - San Diego Committee, comprised of representatives of local San Diego County engineering societies, will judge nominations. A special plaque will be presented to award recipients.
